Communities Hosting Events

Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff to summer in Northern Michigan. But, more importantly, it’s a time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

These Up North communities offer a variety of weekend events to remember those who gave all.

Boyne City

  • Service at Veterans Memorial Park– 207 N. Lake City St., Boyne Falls
  • Service at Village Green Park– 4454 M-75, Walloon Lake
  • Service at Evangeline Cemetery– 2050 W. Clute Rd., Boyne City
  • Service at Dyer Cemetery– 5268 Camp Daggett Rd., Boyne City
  • Lost at Sea Remembrance at Veterans Memorial Park– 207 N. Lake St., Boyne City
  • Service at Wilson Cemetery– 272 Leroy St., Boyne City
  • Service at Maple Lawn Cemetery – 1050 Boyne Ave., Boyne City
  • Memorial Day Parade – Travels from American Legion Post 228 (302 S. Lake St., Boyne City), down Lake St. to Veterans Memorial Park
  • Memorial Service – Veterans Memorial Park

Charlevoix

  • Service at Veterans Park– 400 Bridge St., Charlevoix
  • Service at Brookside Cemetery– 2500 N. M-66, Charlevoix

East Jordan

  • Memorial Day Parade – Beginning at GAR Park across from American Legion Post #227- 305 E. Main St., East Jordan
  • Service at Memorial Park– 101 Spring St., East Jordan

Harbor Springs

  • Breakfast at American Legion Post #281– 101 E. 3rd St., Harbor Springs
  • Memorial Day Parade – Main Street
  • Service at Zorn Park– 100 W. Main St., Harbor Springs; Includes gun salute, speech, and music
  • Service at Lakeview Cemetery– 7577 Cemetery Rd., Harbor Springs

Indian River

  • Memorial Day Parade – Begins on Straights Highway with stops at memorials along the way
  • Reading of Names at VFW Post 7439-4584 S. Straits Hwy., Indian River

Mackinaw City

Saturday before Memorial Day

  • Memorial Day Parade – Through downtown from Huron Ave, to Central Ave, to Nicolet St. The parade includes the cast of the Fort Michilimackinac Pageant along with a variety of floats and clowns.

All Weekend

Memorial Day

  • Service on the Marina lawn – Near the cannon- 107 S. Huron Ave., Mackinaw City
  • Ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery– W. Central Ave., Mackinaw City

Petoskey

  • Ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery– 1938 Sheridan St., Petoskey
  • Ceremonies at World War II and Korean War Monument – Off Mitchel St., Petoskey
  • Ceremony at World War Monument – Near City Hall- 101 E. Lake St., Petoskey
  • Memorial Day Parade – Along Mitchell St. and ending at the Pennsylvania Park Gazebo- 411 E. Lake St., Petosky
  • Memorial Service at Pennsylvania Park -Includes speeches, wreath placement, music, a salute, and taps
  • Luncheon at American Legion Post #194– 455 Bay St., Petoskey
